Manager/Lead Trainer HUGS Programs

REPORTS TO: SPI LLC Director of Soccer Operations
 
PURPOSE: Works closely with the Director of Soccer Operations in the management of our “Helping Us Grow in Soccer” (HUGS) Program. The Manager/Lead Trainer of Youth Programs serves as an advisor to the Executive Director/Board Members of client clubs and organizations of issues pertaining to all Micro-Programs (ages 3-6 yrs. old)   
 
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
 
COACHING EDUCATION AND YOUTH PROGRAMS
  • Assist in recruiting and training of SPI LLC HUGS training staff.
  • Manage staff of 5-10 Junior Trainers and up to 50 volunteer coaches
  • Assist in creating and maintaining club coaches training materials for players’ ages 3-6 years old and promoting them throughout the local clubs and organizations.
  • Assist Director of Soccer Operations (as needed) in the creation of new youth developmental programs by providing needs assessments, documenting process, assigning staff and monitoring progress/results
  • Assist in a yearly program review to determine” need” and feasibility of new micro-programs
 
ADMINISTRATIVE AND MEMBER SERVICES
  • Promote the game of soccer in all markets; aid in the development of new programs. These programs may include (but not limited to): recruiting, organizing and planning coaches’ clinics; speaking and participating at meetings of membership; testifying and presenting information on player development before governmental agencies and committees; and, attending client club events as requested.
  • Assist in the organization and planning of workshops, seminars and other types of educational programs to be presented, upon request, at annual general meetings, league meetings and schools.
  • Disseminate the most current coaching methods and techniques to staff coaches at least once per year through clinic or seminar, and through year-round written communications.
  • Assist President/Executive Director in development and implementation of the organizations operational budget.
PROFESSIONAL RELATIONS:
  • Important to the success of this position is the manner and style in which the Manager/Lead Trainer of Youth Programs works interdependently with client clubs and individual age group coordinators.
  • Collaborative relationships with US Youth Soccer, USSF and FIFA member organizations are highly valued and must be maintained.
  • Media relations including, but not limited to, radio, news periodicals, television, and computer based formats, are important for positive communication about SPI LLC and all its’ client clubs.
 
 
OTHER FUNCTIONS:
  • Maintain a positive image as a spoke person for SPI LLC and all local/regional and international programs.  
  • Apply teaching methodologies for players ages 3-6
  • Apply problem-solving skills in a manner revealing potential opportunities.
  • Be alert to practices that waste supplies, utilities and time.  
  • Treat clients, volunteers, and staff in a friendly, courteous manner.
 
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:
  • B.S. in Education Degree (Preferred)
  • Strong teaching background of pre-school aged children
  • Strong background in coaching/training younger age groups
  • Strong management and communications skills a must
